Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you have to
be a member of MWA to attend?
A: Absolutely not. There are benefits to membership, but anyone and
everyone is welcome at the Dallas Mystery Writers MWA meetings
Q: Are meetings
expensive?
A: We think they're a great bargain. For a $5 door fee, you get to
meet other mystery writers, all willing to talk about mysteries,
thrillers, suspense, and the like. Lunch is optional, but we
strongly encourage everyone to stay and visit. The lunch menu at
Texas Land and Cattle starts at under $7, a great price for great
food.
Q: What kind of
speakers do you have at meetings?
A: We alternate between legal topics, such as police chiefs, medical
examiners, forensic technicians, and lawyers, and writing topics.
These speakers include agents, editors, successful authors telling
how they do it, technology used in writing, and two yearly critique
meetings.
Q: Can I get audio recordings of these sessions?
A: Yes, we sell CDs that include speakers from previous meetings. Catch? You have to come buy them in person, and stay for the meeting. See how sneaky mystery writers can be?
